Pomplamoose fly’s off the handle.

Pomplamoose, one of my Favorite bands...

(still trying to figure where they stand though.)

Cover's the Angry Birds theme... and film's it with a new Android smartphone.

It's like an almost perfect threesome.

Music. (1.2% and still loading…)

I have always sought to explain my connection to music and my art.  I have been told not to stress about it, but I don't see that happening.  As far as I have found, music not only fuels my art but shapes it.  I am starting to think of the music I listen to not as some sort of JELLO mold, but more of a seed crystal.

Did I lose you?  Anyhow, If I not listening to good music I am not in the mood to make or even think about art.   It could be as easy as I like music and it makes me happy… and I can only make art when I am happy.  However, that doesn’t make for good blog entries.

rebooting.. 1% done

It's good to take time off from doing nothing.

I was ashamed to find out how badly disorganized and fragmented things were.  My ideas where bigger than my ability to finish them.

I have to look on the bright side though, this is the perfect chance to not only figure out what I want to make artwise.. but how to communicate that effectively.

Melissa, one of my Models. (local girl)

VERY rarely will I do this, but I feel it's for a good reason.  Melissa, one of my models, is in a competition of hometown HOTTIES in Maxim. Please review her Photos and give her a vote. (Even though the pictures are not mine)

Melissa

thank you.

My new cards are at the house.

I just got notice that my new cards are on the truck and headed to the house. I can't wait to open them up and burn my other ones. :)

Art for Art sake

This is the reason why I keep a watchful eye on the things I do and make every attempt to keep my art real. NOT say this artist was bad... just saying that I have problems the fakers that would "ORBIT" this artist...

Family Portraits.

Here is the reason why I shutter when think of family portraits.Cynthia

More Detail

Now as far as a well thought out picture… I have to give credit to whoever thought up this concept. It was a really novel idea but ideas are not able to only exist that way, they have to forged into something tangible.
I understand what the photographer was going for; A real life situation, casual and in their own home. One of the many problems with this is that the photographer was a foreigner in that space. Everyone was stilted and posed. The point of them using that space was now gone. They might as well been in the studio.
I don’t understand the outfits though. NO ONE in day to day lives wears matching outfits. What is the draw there? I mean, first of all, you have decided what color to use. In this case, they choose brown. The color that most blends into the living room. Secondly, you have to find the outfits, which at that point you have added so much falsehood into the picture why even bother.
There are other things I find awful about this picture which I could spend hours going over. I however am not quite upset about that. The fact of the matter is, what I see is the what could have been and is so much more painful to see.

Things that Click.

I have decieded to make new business cards for myself. The last one I designed was a distaster, and I have learned a lot of things from it.

  1. If you are a photographer, this is a great chance to show off your photography not your design skills. I, for some reason, focused on more what I could do with the design and forgot to add a single picture of my work.
  2. If you want to show off a design, don't pick a cheap printer without having a proof sent. I had this great design. Color's fading in and out with drop shadows doing the same. Reverse image on the the back and illustrations from the site. Great idea, but with the econo printing you couldn't read a thing.
  3. Simple is better. all you have is seconds before they put that card away forever, why not let them read it. With the other mistakes I had made, it was a complex mush.

When I look at the final product, I think I have done a really good job of making a card.  I even put a list of services I do on the back. I have starting getting more serious about broadening my outlook of what projects I tackle. This is just another way finding someone else that I may have been able to talk to before.

Marketing my work… (even sounds gross in my head)

Okay, so I have put some serious thought into doing more than just weddings, portraits and landscapes. Why not other projects? The same problems remain: how to appeal to the market without either selling out or changing just for more market share. I love the eye I have and the way I do things. It would seem that the best way is to shoot some of the projects and put that out there. Then, let the people see how nice and different it is but not "WEIRD". You of course run into the problem of having the work being found. You are then limiting yourself to those actually searching and furthermore to those who can find you. So put yourself out there, one might think. I would say that has faults too. Something in the work will say, "Not for the project I have in mind even thought I would like the work." Some people will of course be turned off by a hot dog in a pretzel(though I don't understand why)being offered to them even if they like it.
